There are multiple ways to add clients to Ownwell:

  1. API Connection (Recommended for Bulk Imports): The easiest way to add clients in bulk is by connecting to your submission platform via API. Learn more here.

  2. CSV Upload (For External Data): If your client data is stored outside your submission platform, you can upload it via CSV, provided it includes all required data fields. Learn more here.

  3. Manual Entry (For Individual Clients or Demos): Clients can also be added manually, which is ideal for:

    • Adding a small number of clients.

    • Creating a demo client for testing or showcasing Ownwell in a demo video to your database or referral partners.

To add clients manually, click the "Add client" button on the Ownwell dashboard.

Recent Enhancements to the Manual Add Client Form

We've improved the manual client entry process, making it more flexible and user-friendly. Here’s what’s new:

1. Add Clients with Minimal Information

  • Previously, complete real estate and mortgage details were required.

  • Now, you can add clients with just a name, email, and property information - no financial or mortgage details needed upfront. You can either add the mortgage information later in the "Client Details" tab, or the client can add them themselves through their report.

2. Improved Support for Variable Rate Mortgages

  • Instead of requiring the original net rate, you can now enter the current net rate.

3. Categorize Clients for Better Organization

  • You can now categorize homeowners based on their status:

    • Client - A current client of yours.

    • Lead - Prospective clients who have not yet closed a mortgage.

    • Referral - Clients who belong to a referral partner.

4. Associate a Client with a Referral Partner

  • When adding a lead or client, you can associate them with a referral partner.

  • This makes the report co-branded, displaying both your profile and the referral partner’s profile.

  • The branding hierarchy depends on how the client is categorized:

    • If the client is a lead or client, your profile appears first, with the referral partner’s profile behind yours. This is because you own the relationship.

    • If the client is a referral, the email is sent from the referral partner, and their profile appears first (because the referral partner owns the client relationship).

Note: The referral partner features are only available if you have the "Adopt My Mortgage" feature enabled.
