When it comes to migrating your database over to Ownwell, we recommend using our API or Bulk Import methods. That said, there may be a time when you'd like to add clients one at a time. Here's how:

Keep in mind that there are multiple ways to add clients to Ownwell.

1. API Connection - Recommended for Finmo and Velocity users

2. CSV Import - Recommended for other database sources
3. Manual Entry - For Individual Clients, Leads, or Demos.

Manual Entry should only be used when adding a small number of clients - Adding a lead with the intention of converting them to a client, or for testing / showcasing Ownwell in a demo to your database or partners.

How Do I Add Clients with Minimal Information?

  • You can add clients or leads with what we call "partial information". All you need is a name, email, and property information - no financial or mortgage details needed upfront.

  • You can add the mortgage information later in the "Client Details" tab, or the client can add them themselves through their report. Here's how to add a mortgage to a client file.

Homeowners are Categorized for Better Organization

  • Client - A current client of yours.

  • Lead - Prospective clients who have not yet closed a mortgage.

  • Referral - Clients who belong to a partner and has shared visibility (this client appears in both your account and the partner's account)

There are multiple ways to add clients to Ownwell:

  1. CSV Import: If your client data is living in Filogix, an old Velocity account, a CRM, or a different submission platform.

  2. Manual Entry

🪄 What Happens Next

Once your data import is complete, each client will appear in Pending status in your dashboard.

You can review who was just imported by using the Recently Added filter — this makes it easy to spot-check new clients and confirm their details before their first report goes out.

Ownwell will prepare each client’s first homeownership report, which is automatically sent 7 days after import, as long as no issues are present in their data. If any issues are detected (for example, a missing lender or invalid address), the report will be paused until those are resolved or dismissed.

After that, clients will continue receiving updated reports automatically every month, with no manual enrollment or activation required.
