How to Update Your Payment Details

Learn how to update the payment details used for your Ownwell subscription.

Overview

Ownwell uses Stripe to securely manage your subscription billing information.

From the Billing portal, you can:

  • Update your payment method.

  • Update your billing information.

  • View your current subscription details.

If your payment card expires or your billing information changes, you can update it at any time through the Billing section of your account.

Accessing the Billing Portal

To manage your payment method:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Plan & Billing.

  2. Under Billing, click Manage.

This will open the secure Stripe Billing Portal, where you can manage your subscription, payment methods, billing information, and invoice history.

Viewing Your Billing Details

When the Stripe Billing Portal opens, you'll see an overview of your subscription, including:

  • Your current subscription.

  • Your next billing date.

  • Your current payment method.

  • Your billing information.

  • Your invoice history.

Scroll to the Payment Method section to view the card currently being used for your subscription.

Updating Your Payment Method

To change the payment method used for your subscription:

  1. In the Payment Method section, click the Edit (pencil) icon beside your current payment method.

You'll be taken to the Select a payment method screen.

If you've previously added multiple payment methods, select the one you'd like to use.

If you'd like to use a new card, click Add payment method.

Adding a New Payment Method

If you're adding a new payment method:

  1. Select Card (or another available payment method, if applicable).

  2. Enter your:

    • Card number

    • Expiration date

    • Security code (CVC)

    • Country/Territory

    • Postal code

  3. Click Add.

Once your new payment method has been added, you'll return to the Select a payment method screen.

Select the new payment method and click Update to make it the payment method used for your subscription.

💡 Note: After updating your payment method, all future subscription payments will use the new payment method. Your subscription plan, billing cycle, billing information, and invoice history will remain unchanged.

Updating Your Billing Information

You can also update the billing information associated with your subscription.

To update your billing information:

  1. Scroll to the Billing Information section.

  2. Click Update information.

On the Billing Information page, you can update:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Country

  • Address

  • City

  • Postal code

  • Phone number

Once you've made your changes, click Save.

Your updated billing information will be used for future invoices and billing communications

💡 Note: Updating your payment details only affects future subscription payments and billing records. It does not change your subscription plan, billing cycle, client seats, add-ons, or previously issued invoices.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can I update both my payment method and billing information?

Yes. Both can be managed from the secure Stripe Billing Portal.

What billing information can I update?

You can update your name, email address, billing address, and phone number.

Will updating my payment details charge my card immediately?

No. Updating your payment details does not trigger an immediate charge unless there is an outstanding balance on your account.

Will previous invoices be updated?

No. Changes only apply to future billing records and invoices.

Is my payment information stored securely?

Yes. Ownwell uses Stripe to securely process and store payment information.
