Ownwell uses multiple property data providers to maximize coverage across Canada, but even with broad coverage, it’s not 100%. In some cases, none of our data partners have enough information about a specific property or region to generate a reliable estimate.
Another common reason is an issue with the address itself, such as a typo or an incorrect postal code. (We often see inaccurate postal codes coming from Google Autocomplete.)
What Should I Do?
Step 1: Verify the Address
Use Canada Post’s address lookup to confirm the full address, including the postal code. Canada Post is the most reliable source for correct Canadian addresses.
Once you've confirmed the correct address:
Go to the Client Details tab.
Click Edit on the Home form.
Update the address information.
Click Save.
Any time you update an address, Ownwell automatically attempts to retrieve a new estimate based on the corrected information.
Step 2: Add Supporting Property Details (If Required)
If we still can’t generate an estimate using the address alone, Ownwell may need additional details, such as:
dwelling type
historical purchase price or appraisal value
the date of that historical value
If these fields appear in the Home form, it means they’re required for this property. Review them, make corrections if needed, and click Save.
Ownwell will try again with the additional information provided.
If an Estimate Still Isn’t Available
If Ownwell still can’t produce a home value estimate after the steps above, the property likely isn’t covered by any of our current data providers. Since a home value estimate is required to generate monthly reports, you may want to remove this client record from Ownwell.
