Welcome to Ownwell! You’re just a few steps away from turbo charging your client engagement.

Before you get started, you'll need to import your client data into Ownwell. Don’t worry - it’s a quick and easy process!

Ways to Add Clients to Ownwell:

  1. API Integration

    • Currently available for Finmo and Velocity (more integrations are coming soon).

  2. Bulk Import via CSV

    • Easily import data from Velocity, Filogix Expert, or other sources. Access the templates to import data via CSV here.

  3. Manual Entry

    • Add clients individually if needed. Learn how to do that here.

  4. Automatic Enrollment via Landing Pages

    • Clients can automatically enroll through your personal landing page or referral partners' landing pages if you’re using the Adopt My Mortgage feature.

Platform-Specific Instructions:

Can I Import Data from My CRM?

Yes! Ownwell is platform-agnostic - you can import data from any CRM - or spreadsheet, for that matter - as long as it contains the required fields.

However, we’ve noticed that most brokers' CRMs don’t include all the necessary fields. We recommend using your submission platform (like Finmo, Velocity, or Filogix Expert) as your source of truth to ensure accurate data imports.

Finmo

If you haven’t connected your Finmo account yet, follow these steps:

1. Connect Your Finmo Account:

  • Go to your Ownwell dashboard → Click Add Client (down arrow) → Select Import Clients → Choose Finmo.

2. Enter Your Finmo API Details:

  • Navigate to Team Settings > Integrations > Finmo API.

  • Generate a new API token and copy it into Ownwell.

    • Note that Finmo only allows two API tokens to be in use at once. If you find yourself unable to generate a new token for this reason, you will need to revoke one of your existing tokens to use Ownwell. You can see whether or not a token is in active use by looking at the "Last used" date.

    • If you're using both of your existing Finmo API tokens (both are active) - You can reach out to Finmo's support team to generate an additional token. They will create a new one for you in the backend and provide it to you!

  • Copy and paste your Team ID into Ownwell as well.

3. Complete the Import:

  • Click Continue, and Ownwell will import your funded mortgage clients with home price estimates and relevant rates.

  • This process takes a few minutes, and you’ll see a notification at the top of your Ownwell dashboard when it’s complete.

Now that your Finmo account is connected, Ownwell will check your Finmo account for any new funded deals each night and automatically pull them in.

Important: once a client record has been imported into Ownwell, all future edits should be made in Ownwell (not Finmo), because Finmo edits made after import will not carry over into Ownwell.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If some clients aren’t appearing, it’s likely due to missing or incompatible data (e.g., clients without a "Funded" status). See the complete list of requirements here.

Velocity - API Integration

If you haven’t connected your Velocity account yet, follow these steps:

1. Connect Your Velocity Account:

  • Go to your Ownwell dashboard → Click Add Client → Select Import Clients → Choose Velocity.

2. Enter Your Velocity API Key:

  • Click the gear icon (top right) > Settings.

  • Under Velocity API, click Request API Key.

    1. If you already have a Velocity API Key, send us that

  • Enter "ownwell.ca" as the domain name, then click Request.

  • Enter the API key in the "Enter your API Key" field.

3. Complete the Import

  • Newton typically approves API key requests within 12 hours.

  • Ownwell will import funded mortgage clients with a deal status of Funded and Awaiting Payment or Complete.

No Longer Use Velocity But Need to Import Data?

You can export a CSV from Velocity and send it to [email protected]. Detailed CSV export steps are listed below:

1. Log in to Velocity and Create a Report

  • Log in to Velocity. In the side navigation, click "Reports" and then select "Build a Report."

2. Click "Create a New Report."

3. Configure the Report

In Step 1: Report Setup, fill out the following details:

  • Report Type: Select "Deals."

  • Status: Enter the status you use to indicate a funded deal (typically "Completed").

  • Application Type: Select "Approval."

  • Assigned User: Select yourself.

  • Date Type: Choose "Maturity Date."

  • Date Range: Set a range to include mortgages that haven’t matured yet.

4. Add Filters

  • In Step 2: Report Filters, set "Include All Borrowers" to "Yes" and click "Configure Report."

This is important because, without all borrowers, we won't know what the household income is (only the income of the primary borrower).

5. In the "Report Layout" step, select each of the "Select All" tick boxes.

6. Generate and Export the Report

  • Click "Generate Report."

  • Once the report is ready, click "Export CSV" to download your data.

7. Send Us Your CSV File

  • After exporting the CSV file, email it to us at [email protected]. Please note that the import process may take up to 5 business days to complete. We'll notify you as soon as your data is ready.

Filogix Expert

1. Log in to Filogix Expert → Go to Tools → Select Extract to CRM.

2. Set Filters

  • Level: Select yourself.

  • Maturity Date: Set “From” to today’s date and “To” to 10 years from today.

  • Click Search.

3. Export Data

  • Click Select All Unlocked Records → Choose Consolidated Extract Type → Download the CSV.

4. Manually Complete the CSV, or Let Ownwell Handle It For You (5 business days)

Filogix does not export the following fields:

  • Original Property Value (Purchase Price)

  • Property Type (Detached, Condo, etc.)

  • Household Income

Add these columns and fill in the missing details manually before emailing it to Ownwell’s Support team for upload.

Alternative method!

We can handle this process for you within 5 business days.

We've built a tool that can automatically look up each file number from the CSV file in your Filogix account and populate the missing details in the CSV for you. For this option, we'll need temporary access to your Filogix account.

If you'd like us to take care of this for you, let us know, and we'll provide instructions for granting temporary access.

Bulk Import via CSV

You have two options for bulk-importing client data:

  1. Import with complete mortgage details - Best if you have the client’s current mortgage information.

  2. Import with property details only - Useful if the client’s mortgage has matured or if they come from referral partners who don’t have mortgage details (a realtor partner's database, for example). Clients imported this way will receive a partial version of the report, including the home value module, while the mortgage-related modules will remain blurred until they add their mortgage details through their report.

Both import templates can be downloaded below.
