Exporting your data from Velocity gives you a CSV file that can be imported into Ownwell.

This guide walks you through the correct Velocity report settings so your export includes the right clients, borrowers, and deal data.

Recommended: Use the Velocity API if Available

If you have access to the Velocity API, we strongly recommend using it instead of a manual CSV export.

The API import:

  • Shows a full preview of your clients before upload

  • Highlights missing data or issues

  • Lets you select or deselect clients before importing

Use the CSV export process below if:

  • You are not using the API, or

  • You want to export a specific group of clients manually

Before You Begin

Before starting, make sure you can access Reports in Velocity.

This process will generate a CSV file, which you will upload into Ownwell to preview and import clients.

For your first import, your goal is typically to export active funded mortgages. You can follow these same steps to pull additional files later, also.

Video Walkthrough

This video shows how to export deal data from Velocity for import into Ownwell.

It covers:

  • Building a report using Deals

  • Filtering for active mortgages using Maturity Date

  • Including all borrowers

  • Selecting all fields (including Assigned User/Agent)

  • Exporting a CSV file

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Follow the steps below to build your report and export your CSV file from Velocity.

The screenshots will show you exactly where to click. As you go through them, pay attention to the key settings — these determine which clients are included and whether your data imports correctly into Ownwell.

The most important things to get right:

  • Select Funded & Awaiting Payment and Complete

  • Set Include all borrowers = Yes

  • Select all fields (twice)

  • Manually select Assigned User / Agent

If any of these are missed, your export may still complete—but some clients or data may be missing when you import into Ownwell.

Build Your Report

→ Click “Reports”

→ Click “Build a Report”

→ Click “Create New Report”

→ Name your report

Set Report Filters

→ Select Report Type: Deals

→ Select Status: “Funded & Awaiting Payment” and “Complete”

Ownwell imports active funded mortgage files. If one of these is missed, some clients will not appear in your export.

→ Select Application Type: “Approval”

Set Date Range

→ Select Date Type: “Maturity Date”

This captures active mortgages.

For later imports, you may want a specific group of clients (e.g. recent closings). In that case:

  • Use Closing Date

  • Set your desired date range

→ Set Date Range: TODAY → 10 years after TODAY

Include All Borrowers

→ Under “Include all borrowers?”, select “Yes”

This ensures:

  • Co-borrowers are included

  • Household income is complete

  • Opportunity calculations are accurate

If this is not selected, client data may be incomplete.

→ Click “Select All” for all other categories

→ Click “Export Report”

FAQ

Why use Maturity Date for the first export?

Maturity Date helps identify active mortgage files. This is the most useful dataset when first setting up Ownwell.

Can I export by closing date instead?

Yes. Use Date Type: Closing Date and set your desired date range.

This is useful for incremental imports and adding recently closed clients.

Why include all borrowers?

Ownwell supports co-borrowers and uses household-level data.

If borrowers are missing, household income may be incorrect and opportunities may be less accurate.

Why select all fields?

Ownwell relies on the full dataset to:

  • Build client files

  • Read mortgage details

  • Calculate opportunities

Missing fields can lead to incomplete or failed imports.

Why do I have to manually select Assigned User / Agent?

Velocity does not include this field when using “Select All.”

You should manually check it in both selection screens to ensure all data is exported. This is particularly important if you share your Velocity account to ensure you only upload your deals.

Why are some clients missing from my export?

Check:

  • Status includes Complete and Funded & Awaiting Payment

  • Your date range is correct

Why are some clients skipped during import?

Ownwell currently does not support:

  • Semi-monthly payment frequency

  • Accelerated weekly payment frequency

These files will be skipped.

Workaround:

  • Change the frequency to monthly before importing

  • Then re-import

This has minimal impact on opportunity calculations and allows the client to be included.
